This policy explains what information keyboard-test.net handles when you use the site.

Keyboard test input

All tests run locally in your browser. The page reads keyboard events to update the diagram, the counters and the event log on your screen. Key presses are kept in memory only, are not transmitted to us, are not stored on our servers and are discarded when you reset a test or close the page. The site does not log keystrokes and cannot see what you type in other tabs or applications.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects usage data such as the pages you view, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser and device type. It does not receive anything you press inside a test.

You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. The site does not set advertising cookies.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting and content delivery providers keep standard access logs. These can include your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. We use them only to keep the site running, to diagnose errors and to block abuse. Logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

Third-party services

Google Analytics, provided by Google, is the only third-party script on the site. Google processes the data it collects under its own privacy policy. Pages are delivered through a hosting and content delivery provider, which processes requests on our behalf under the same limits described above.

If we add advertising in the future, we will update this policy before doing so and describe what is collected and how to opt out.

Children

The site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because we do not collect personal information through the tests, there is normally nothing for us to export or delete. If you believe we hold personal data about you, for example from an email you sent us, contact us and we will delete it on request.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date shown on it.
